Overview
The Wine Artisans Of Santa Lucia Highlands is an alliance of growers and vintners, dedicated to expressing, through their fine wines, the unique character of this rugged Monterey appellation. Some of the grower members include Gallo, Hahn Estates, Paraiso and Pisoni to mention just a few.

Challenge
The alliance wanted a web site that they would be able to update themselves as their membership grew, to provide information primarily for trade and press, to educate about both grower and winery members, and the quality of wines produced in this region. Equally important, they wanted to easily convey the quality of the "terroir" at a glance, giving importance to sense of place.

Solution
We developed a Content Management System that gives the Alliance full ability to add new members, and update vineyard profile details, including everything from wine brands to soil types, and varietal details such as trellis system, irrigation methods, rootstock, vine density, and average yield per acre. To convey the terroir, we used an interactive Flash-based map, allowing the visitor to "zoom into" the vineyard property, and navigate their way across the Santa Lucia Highlands to get a bird's eye view of the vineyards.
