About the Saratoga Barn

The three-story barn, which dates back to circa 1890, has been recently restored by local developers Craig Awbrey and Bob Hausmann. The Saratoga Barn aka "Sam Cloud Hay and Feed Warehouse" stood for 118 years on Third Street, just off Big Basin Way in Saratoga. It was formerly used to warehouse carriages, feed and horses.

The restoration process took approximately 3 years and included taking the structure down plank by plank so it could be restored. Each piece of wood from the barn was labeled and warehoused before being put back in place when the structure was re-built. A new sprinkler system and other retrofitting was done to meet current city building codes. The three story Saratoga Barn has been completely restored using approximately 85% of the original wood. The warm butter-yellow exterior remains the same as the original.

This historically registered building was built circa 1890 by local owner Sam Cloud. The Congress Springs stagecoach was housed on the street level, with the horses on the lower level and the hay and feed on the upper level. (WS+D is on the Horse Level).

The Sam Cloud barn remains a registered historic landmark, and was awarded the "2008 Sustainable Building of the Year Award".
